While most members of the President George W. Bush administration are defending their reputations, explaining embarrassing accusations, or struggling to deflate a cloud of scrutiny hovering over them, only one remains above the fray. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice continues to perform the job for which she was appointed with grace and style. Consequently she continues to earn the admiration of people at home and around the world.

An Oct. 25 poll released by the Pew Charitable Trust revealed that 70 percent of Americans surveyed during the month gave Condoleezza Rice a favorable job performance rating. This comes at a time when the public has soured toward government in general. Consider that among those same individuals, only 40 percent look favorably at Bush’s management of the country.

Secretary Rice casts her vote to adopt a resolution demanding Syria's full cooperation with a U.N. investigation.

Read her remarks.

Satisfaction with the way Rice has represented this nation is not new. Back
in August, Bush’s negative public rating climbed to 58 percent. Twenty-two percent said Rice was only doing a fair job, just 15 percent assessed her work as poor. As public opinion of other Cabinet members has plummeted or dwindled, Rice stock is on its way up.

In the recent words of GOP strategist, Robert Traynham, “Condoleeza Rice is a brilliant American who has done so much for our community in terms of being a role model.” And, not surprisingly it’s not just Republicans who are singing her praises. In an Oct. 27 broadcast of National Public Radio’s News and Notes with Ed Gordon, a guest described Rice  as “the most popular person in the Bush Administration.” The guest was Donna Brazile, political strategist and former campaign manager for Democratic presidential nominee Al Gore in 2000.

“Well, when you look at Dr. Rice, are you looking presidential candidate?” Gorgon asked. Brazile noted that although Condoleezza has stated on more than one occasion that she was not interested in running, “still she is very popular and well liked by people outside of Washington, D.C., as well as those inside Washington, D.C.” The political strategist observed that since being sworn in Rice has traveled the globe “being the face of the United States, to the rest of the world, and I think that has had a tremendous impact on her standing here in this country.”

Simply put, her consistently high favorable rating is further evidence that she is her own woman, and she is a statesman not a politician. These are precisely the reasons her party should rally behind her and make a Condoleezza Rice presidential candidacy a reality in 2008.

Democracy to Top Rice Visit  Agenda

Democratic reforms in the region and support for the political process in Iraq will top the agenda during US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice's visit to Bahrain, said the US State Department. Rice will visit Bahrain to attend the Forum for the Future being held on November 11 and 12.

The visit is part of her tour to the Middle East and Asia from November 10 to 21.

Rice to be honored

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will be honored for her support of the International Affairs Budget at the U.S. Global Leadership Campaign’s 10th Anniversary Gala Dinner. Rice will address the 10th Anniversary Gala Dinner on Tuesday, November 8, 2005.

Now the left is preparing the banners and marches to demand President Bush and Vice President Cheney resign when, not if, there are indictments handed down (if you listen to the media they are already indicted and convicted, but so far nothing happened).  President Bush will not resign, but in deference to the left and the spirit of bipartisanship, if Libby is indicted the Vice President should resign and the President should appoint Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice as the new Vice President. Condoleezza Rice: In her own words ...

Speaking from the State Department's Benjamin Franklin Room, Nov. 2, 2005

Today it is my great pleasure to present the 2005 Awards for Corporate Excellence to two American companies that understand that the best way to do well is to do good. …

“When John and Karen Lewis sold all their worldly belongings to purchase a lush and beautiful tract of rainforest in Costa Rica, they did not seek merely to create a hotel; they sought to develop an entire concept of ecotourism which they realized in Lapa Rios. The guiding principle of Lapa Rios Ecolodge is to adapt itself to the local environment, not to change the local environment to meet its own needs. The company uses energy-saving generators and solar panels to operate more efficiently. It has developed a comprehensive plan for water conservation, waste management and recycling to operate more cleanly. And working with local and international partners, Lapa Rios even established a 400-hectare biological reserve in Costa Rica. …

“More than a hotel, Lapa Rios is a model of environmental stewardship and enlightened corporate leadership. …”

I now have the pleasure of talking about Cisco Systems, which understands that education is the key to success and prosperity for all developing countries. Cisco Systems of San Jose, California, is honored today for its unprecedented contribution to education in Jordan, and I would like to welcome the Ambassador, His Excellency, from Jordan.

“The company worked with Jordanian King Abdullah on a project on education and with many and other private and other partners to develop a vision for educational reform that is called the Jordanian Educational Initiative. This program is revolutionizing how teachers are trained, how subjects are taught and how students are prepared for the future. Working with a local Jordanian company, Cisco developed an online interactive mathematics curriculum that is already being used in Jordan’s schools.

The company is also building an internet network to link together 100 primary and secondary schools, called the Discovery Schools, and to connect them to universities and community centers and research institutions around the country. By next year Cisco hopes to unite 1.5 million students across Jordan through the power and reach of information technology.”

Condi: Gun Rights as Important as Speech

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, recalling how her father took up arms to defend fellow blacks from racist whites in the segregated South, said in a May 11 CNN interview the constitutional right of Americans to own guns is as important as their rights to free speech and religion.
